Area Description

This stylish home has been created from the top three floors of a landmark period building on the renowned King's Road, so named because King Charles II used to come this way to visit his mistress Nell Gwyn in a house he’d had built for her in Fulham. The King's Road runs though the heart of Chelsea, a district that has long attracted lovers of style and beauty. This was the home of the fashion revolution in the 1960s, when the local boutiques sold the first mini skirts, and of the punk fashion movement in the 70s. In fact the ground floor of the Clockhouse was the fashion designer Vivienne Westwood's first shop and its madly spinning clock still adorns the front of the building - an easy landmark for taxi-drivers to find! Today the King’s Road is still flanked by quality shops of all kinds, from antique emporia to gourmet markets to modern designer outlets, and an inexhaustible variety of restaurants, bistros and pubs.

Underground8 Nearest tube: South Kensington (Circle, District and Piccadilly lines) and Sloane Square (Circle and District lines), both 20 minutes walk. Good bus services along the King’s Road.

Property Description

General
This is a stunning and spacious four bedroom, three bathroom family home over the top 3 floors of a brilliantly renovated period building, with a roof terrace. A non-smoking property.

Decor
Contemporary decor with superb architectural and decorative features including original custom woodwork.

Receptions
The spacious, bright and uncluttered living room on the second floor has a relaxed ambience with its wood-framed ornamental fireplace, large leather sofas and armchair, solid wooden coffee table and fun artwork. There is a DVD and flat screen TV with a selection of cable channels. Two glass-fronted walk-in cupboards behind the TV provide practical storage space. And to one side is a totally unique feature, a glass floor insert shedding light on the kitchen below!

Kitchen
The open plan kitchen and dining area take up the first floor of the house and provide generous space for preparing and sharing meals for a sizeable group. Steel and glass fronted cupboard units are topped with solid wood counters and there are two ovens, a fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The working end of the kitchen centres on a circular wood-block table that includes the gas hob and has handmade wooden stools around it, providing instant service from pan to plate for those who are ravening! Alternatively you can gather round the rugged farmhouse table that seats 8, taking turns to be enthroned in the unique ladder-back chair. Beside the stairs there is a cosy reading nook and a floor to ceiling bookcase. Please note: The fireplace is ornamental. (Not in use)

Bedrooms
The bright master bedroom is on the second floor and has a king-size bed with unusual oak surround. Please note: This room overlooks the living room offering little privacy. There are three further single bedrooms on the top floor, all with single beds and skylights. There is also a den area with writing desk, built-in cupboards and a TV (plays movies only), and a door to the spacious rooftop terrace. On the lower half landing there is a pull out bunk bed for the occasional visitor not scared of heights.

Bathrooms
The spacious master bathroom, on the half landing between the first and second floor, has good storage space and a wash basin, a large custom mosaic-tiled tub with wall-attached shower over it and a loo. There is also a fully equipped sauna (£12 charge for its use). The second bathroom on the top floor has a wash basin, a round custom mosaic-tiled tub with hand held shower over it and a loo. The third bathroom is on the half landing between the ground and first floor, hidden behind metal walls and door, and has a wash basin, shower unit and loo
