Blue Pumpkin

Well-known to Putney diners, the Blue Pumpkin is now in Balham and winning new converts. The Blue Pumpkin is a relaxed, informal brasserie, light and airy with sun streaming in. There's a bar with sofas to relax in, blistering cocktails to enjoy, and the renowned weekend brunch and Sunday lunch as well as the regular lunch and dinner menus. Overall, the feeling is smart modern, with confidence in the kitchen and expertise in the service. The modern British menu includes dishes like starter of hot Cornish crab cake with saffron mayonnaise, main course of Moroccan style lamb burger with chilli jam, and pudding of baked lime cheesecake with raspberry sauce. This independently-own brasserie is so well-run that if you book your party or celebration here, you can relax in the confidence that your group will enjoy themselves fully. The decor is bright and modern, the modern British menu a treat, the feeling buzzy and fun. There's no private room, but groups up to 20 will be accommodated in the main restaurant, or you can hire the whole show for big do's, seating up to 80. Gather in the comfy bar for an introductory cocktail, then enjoy dishes like starter of marinated salmon with honey, mustard and dill dressing, main course of marinated chicken breast on ratatouille with garlic mash, and pudding of white and dark chocolate mousse with dark chocolate sauce.
