Kia Ora, the kiwi kitchen, a restaurant that's more kiwi than an all black waving a silver fern on Waitangi day! Set up by New Zealander Matthew Jans and his partner Julia (BBC News 24 business presenter), the kiwi kitchen offers a true taste of God's own Country. House specialities include NZ whitebait fritters, paua fritters, hangi smoked lamb, NZ green lip mussels, kumara chips, lamb burgers with beetroot and pineapple, venison and lamb shanks - but it's best to save a little room for dessert - hokey pokey ice cream with chocolate fish, perky nana ice cream, pavlova, white chocolate mousse with fresh feijoa and much more. Matt has created a menu based around traditional Maori dishes and recipes from his homeland of Taranaki, much of the produce has to be imported specially to achieve an authenic NZ experience. With a range of kiwi wines and spirits - including 42 below feijoa vodka and the World famous in NZ L&P! The kiwi kitchen is the only NZ restaurant in the UK - it's 100% pure! The cocktail menu has something for everyone, from the signature Kiwi Kiss to the classic Mojito - there are over 80 cocktails to choose from! The bar is open daily from midday til 11.30pm with a late licence on Friday and Saturday's with funky house dj til 2am. The restaurant is open seven days a week, 12-3 & 6-10pm Mon - Sat, 12-5 with live jazz on Thursdays from 9-11pm and Sundays from 2-5pm. baroque has a clubby upstairs bar/chillout lounge available for private parties of up to 40, equipped with its own bar and bartender for the evening. The main restaurant and the lovely garden also fit 40 each. Tasty finger buffet, canap?, set and a la carte menus can be organised for private functions, depending on how many of you there are. There's a dance floor for the, erm, dancers, and a great sound system - you can bring your own entertainment if you like. Open until midnight Fridays and Saturdays. Top venue for stag and hen parties, birthdays, get-togethers and business lunches, without the West End prices and stuffiness.
