The Victoria
Address:
10 West Temple Sheen, East Sheen, SW14 7RT
Telephone:
A leafy residential street in south west London is home to The Victoria, a marvellous 'gastropub with rooms' whose exquisite food, smart d?cor, warm welcome, big comfy leather armchairs and even bigger conservatory have attracted rave reviews a-plenty. Every day head chef Darren Archer offers new delights, but to give you an idea, Charolais sirloin steak with onion gravy, chips, salad and b?arnaise is a typical evening meal, while a weekend lunch might be closer to nettle soup with a poached egg and tarragon. The wine list, chosen by Patrick Sandeman of Lea and Sandeman, pleases just as much as the menu. Everything is reasonably priced. Children are very welcome at this fantastic family restaurant. Groups as large as 40 can dine together with other people in the main restaurant. But if you fancy having the place to yourself, then it's ideal for groups of not much more than 60. Up to eight can eat a la carte; the only type of food not offered is canap?s. Particularly suits large families and informal parties with children - they'll love having their own play area on the back patio leading to the large leafy garden. Service is warm and charming, like the welcome. If you find yourself too tired to go home, you can just pop upstairs to one of the airy rooms. Open seven days a week.
