Painted an inviting yellow, La Lanterna sits opposite Brockley train station. Biagio fans will be pleased to learn that its based on the same successful concept as its West End siblings - classic, affordable Italian food served in a cosy, traditional setting. La Lanterna has a nice family feel and is popular with people from all over the South East. On Sundays you'll usually find kids feasting on pizza. A big menu offers a variety of fresh pizzas, soups, pastas and meat, vegetarian and fish dishes, as well as weekly specials written on chalk boards. The lamb sells particularly well. Good selection of Italian wines. Friendly service. Biagio La Lanterna caters for private (including wedding receptions) and business parties of up to 50 guests, and particularly suits small parties of around ten. Twenty guests can be seated together around any one table. As in every Biagio restaurant, menu choices are simply a la carte and set. Plenty of options for the vegetarians among your party. House wine is ?14; beer costs ?2.50 a bottle. Families are welcomed and highchairs are on hand for toddlers. Smoking is permitted throughout, although no pipes or cigars are allowed. Closed Mondays.
