Angeles Restaurant is a Chinese place in Central London. Standard Anglo-Cantonese fare is available, but this pales in comparison to the enticing, spicy and authentic Sichuanese menu which makes Angeles Restaurant unique. Angeles? devoted Chinese fans gather for lively steamboats in which diners cook vegetables, noodles, seafood and meat ? from lamb to spam ? in a bubbling pot of fiery broth. A main course of twice-cooked pork combined the richness of belly pork with the sharpness of whole spring onions and chilli oil to pleasing effect this central London restaurant was a pioneer of Sichuanese cuisine, yet has toned down the chillies and sichuan peppercorns a little since opening in 2003. Nevertheless, this is the closest you?ll get, for the money, to the taste of Sichuan in a central London restaurant.
This is authentic Sichuan food in a central London restaurant. The menu and the food is the best than any other chinese cuisine central London restaurant. They do not compromise on Sichuan food. It's spicy and packed full of flavour. The Ma Po Tofu is done properly with plenty of Sichuan peppercorn sprinkled on top. This is one of two authentic Sichuan Restaurants (the other being Sichuan Restaurant in Acton). It's cheaper and more than authentic than Bar Shu, whom the newspapers have been making a big deal about. It's been toned down and not as authentic as this central London restaurant. You can also have Sichuan hot pot here and it's the real thing. Tim - Saturday, September 09, 2006
