Receptions
A mews is a unique feature of the historic residential areas of London, a lane of smaller buildings that runs along the back of a grand terrace, originally designed to house coaches and horses and those who looked after them. Many mews houses have been converted into delightful homes that benefit from being off the main streets but still in the heart of an exclusive neighbourhood. In this one the ground floor has become a haven of comfort and colour, with an inviting sitting area near the front window around the marble fireplace, and an elegantly arranged dining area by the kitchen. Flowers take pride of place in the richly-toned colour scheme and several choice antique pieces showcase interesting objets d’art and family treasures. The country-house look is completed by a varied collection of paintings and portrait miniatures, not excluding a few whimsical touches like the see-through dining chairs! TV and VCR provided.
Kitchen
Adjacent to the dining area is a practical kitchen fitted with all the usual appliances including a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Bedrooms
The bedrooms are on the first floor off a spacious landing. The master bedroom has a king size antique bed plus a dressing area with good wardrobe space and a large en-suite bathroom. It also has access to a wisteria-draped balcony with table and chairs, a discreet vantage point for watching what’s happening in the mews below. The second bedroom has twin beds and some charming Victorian furniture as well as excellent cupboard space.
Bathrooms
The generously sized en-suite master bathroom continues the country-house style with its cream paintwork, marble surfaces and more antique treasures set against vivid cherry pink walls. It has double wash basins, a tub with hand held shower and a loo. The second bathroom has a wash basin, a shower cubicle with a power shower and a loo.
