Are you in London for the Olympic Games? Or are you planning to make a trip to the UK for the last few days of the iconic event? Whether you are in London for the Games or not, we’re sharing our top tips for medals at this year’s Olympics.

After Bradley Wiggins in the cycling and Helen Glover and Heather Stanning in the rowing opened Team GB’s gold medal account, it’s hoped that the hosts can add to their tally.

We’ve had Wiggins reap the glory in the cycling time-trial, Michael Phelps cementing his place as the greatest ever Olympian (to go with his title of the best swimmer in history), Ye Shiwen surprise everyone as she dominated the women’s swimming, and you can guarantee that more surprises are in store.

With the swimming, rowing and cycling hitting the headlines in the first week of the Games, week 2 marks the start of the athletics, as Usain Bolt seeks to eclipse his exploits four years ago in Beijing and retain his 100m and 200m gold, fighting off the likes of Yohan Blake, Asafa Powell, Justin Gatlin and Tyson Gay.

If you are not one of the lucky people to get tickets for this year’s Games, it’s not the be all and end all. There are numerous big screens set up around London, allowing you to experience the same electrifying atmosphere without the hefty price tag.

Big screens have been erected in Lewisham, Hyde Park, Victoria Park, Trafalgar Square and Camden Beach, allowing you to celebrate the Olympics and cheer on your favourite athletes, without having to deal with the queues for the tube at the end.
